Do you ever work for free?

Do you ever work for free?

Sailing Away to AkaroaI think this is in a way the wrong question. I think the good moto is “Don’t let not getting paid prevent you from doing what you are passionate about”. By doing things you are passionate about you get better at them. You build skills and you network with other people interested in the same thing. That should usually lead to opportunities to get paid for something connected to your passion.

One of the first question we ask at job interviews is “What are your hobbies?”. And beside sports what we are looking for is stuff people do for free that is somehow connected to the job they are interviewing for.

To sum it up – I have to agree with inc.com article that doing stuff for free can be a very good investment of our time.

Give Your Work Away for Free (Sometimes)

If you’re not devoting a small percentage of your time to working for free, you’re making a big mistake. If you don’t devote a small percentage of your time to working for free, you’re making a mistake. Whoa, wait, hold on a second. Sheathe your sword of value. Don’t go all cold-blooded capitalist on me. Hear me out.

We need this to understand how you use our service - you can take it out if you like. Cheers, your Blogspire team.
