Solar Flare 2012: Massive Solar Storm Headed For Earth

Oh great, here goes the planet, err the solar storm. I am sure our sys-admins are going to use this as an excuse why our systems are breaking for the rest of the month. Then next month it’s going to be magnetic movements in earth’s crust.

Ok, that was a joke. Our sys-admins are nowhere near your classical garden variety BOFH you read about. They are one of the most pleasant and helpful people I know.

One of the most powerful solar storms in the last five years was unleashed yesterday after a massive solar flare erupted from the sun. Space weather scientists are closely watching the sun’s activity as the storm could interfere with satellite communication and power grids.
